KernelTrap: Forums Restructured, Free Tags

July 9, 2007 - 7:58pm

KernelTrap

The KernelTrap forums have been completely restructured and simplified. There are now four main sections, Linux, BSD, KernelTrap and Other. Please update your bookmarks.

Support for tagging has also been added to the forums (as well as to blogs). Thus, when posting a new forum topic to KernelTrap it's now possible to specify a comma separated list of tags that describe your posting. Popular tags will show up in the new block in the lower right corner of the page, as well as here.

Another new addition to KernelTrap this week is a collection of Linux man pages [blog]. In addition to browsing the man pages by section, you can also search their entire content with KernelTrap's search box. To limit your searches to only man pages, include "type:man" in your search. For example, to search for man pages about or referencing socket() you would type "type:man socket".

How about a "thank you" instead of complaints?

Thanks Jeremy!

Forum RSS Feeds

July 10, 2007 - 12:06pm

I have added RSS feeds to all of the forums. Simply navigate to any forum, then add "/feed" to the URL. For example, the Linux forums are at http://kerneltrap.org/forum/linux, so the Linux forum RSS feed is at http://kerneltrap.org/forum/linux/feed.

Here is a full list of forums and feeds:

This functionality is built into Drupal. You can read more about it in the taxonomy handbook.
