Intel is going to provide hardware virtualization support for about every single component on a motherboard. AMD may have an IOMMU available now, but it has no further plans for future development. At least, not as appealing and powerful as Intel's ones.

In other words, Intel started first. AMD followed and surpassed Intel by improving Intel's mistakes. But Intel is going to re-surpass AMD by a huge margin in the near future (2-3 years).

And yes, Intel does already have working prototypes of what I mentioned, but they're not ready yet for production.
