"People on the extreme side of things are never right."

They may not be right, but more often than not, they are victorious.

History is made by extremists. Moderates fall by the wayside, if they even survive at all.

It wasn't by being reasonable or playing nice or showing a willingness to compromise that Christianity and Islam became the world's dominant religions.

A more relevant example: isn't it the zealotry of the Linux crowd, rather than the technical merits of their OS, which has made Linux more successful than the technically-superior BSD?
